I ask a supplementary question. The minister has the power to support country clubs and communities, as the minister said in his press release. Will the minister use that power and support them? Mr M. McGOWAN

Racing and Wagering Western Australia was set up so that the industry would have a governing body that in effect would mean it would be governed by itself. It comprises people from across the country who are experts in the field. The strategic development plan that we are discussing at the moment was supported by the board of RWWA, including representatives of country racing. They understand that we cannot ever retain everything as it always has been. In the 1950s and 1960s there were different configurations of race meetings throughout Western Australia. Different configurations will always be in place. We cannot keep everything static. Not everyone will be happy. However, as I have said, there has been a 57 per cent increase in stakes at Narrogin and a 25 per cent increase in stakes at Wagin.
