I refer to the government-established Busselton foreshore steering committee, announced by the member Vasse on 17 February 2009. (1) What is the current status of the steering committee? (2) How many times has it met? (2) What community consultation has it undertaken to date? (4) Will the minister table all correspondence over the past two months between the minister and the Shire of Busselton, and between the South West Development Commission and the Shire of Busselton about the steering committee and the community consultation on the Busselton foreshore redevelopment? (5) If no to (4), why not? Hon WENDY DUNCAN

I thank the honourable member for her question. The Minister for Regional Development has provided the following answer — (1)-(3) A proposed committee was put forward to me by the member for Vasse. The South West Development Commission has been working to progress the matter and has advised me that community consultation would be better conducted under a Shire of Busselton working group with financial and technical support provided by the South West Development Commission. We are waiting for the shire’s response and advice on this proposal. (4)-(5) Correspondence between the minister and the member for Vasse has already been tabled in Parliament. We have also answered 20 questions on this topic over the past six months and will be answering another seven questions on notice shortly. The member has access to information through three freedom of information requests to the minister’s office and the same three requests to the South West Development Commission’s office. Further information will be provided through the FOI process in the member’s fourth application on this issue. If the member requires further information, the minister would be happy to offer the member a briefing from the South West Development Commission.
