Hon Nick Goiran questions the WA government about a significant increase in funding for the Regional Road Safety Program (Local Roads) in 2028-29, seeking clarification on the allocation of $25 million. I refer to page 400 of Budget Paper No. 2, Volume 2, line-item "Road Trauma Trust Account – Regional Road Safety Program (Local Roads)" under "Election Commitments", and I ask: (a) what is the reason for allocating $25 million in 2028-29, significantly increasing on each of the years 2025-26 to 2027-28?

(a) For many years the RTTA has contributed $20 million per year to the Regional Road Safety Program (RRSP) and an additional $5m per year has now been allocated to extend the RRSP to key local roads. The existing RRSP program of works on state roads will conclude in 2027-28, after which the full $25 million annual funding will be applied to the RRSP local roads program of works.
