Water Corporation—Property damage
558. Mr Peter Rundle to
the Minister for Water:
I have a
supplementary question. Does the minister stand by his claim that the Water
Corporation responded very well when an elderly resident was left with a six-figure
repair bill and a home destroyed by sewage?

A major sewer spill is
a very challenging and difficult situation. The Water Corporation and its staff
worked tirelessly to address the leakage and clean up the area. They have not
abandoned Mr Allison. They are working through a process that, unfortunately,
as I have indicated, has come to a halt because of the complaint to the
Ombudsman. I hope the Ombudsman deals with it quickly because everybody wants
to see this matter resolved. My experience of Water Corp is that it works incredibly
hard to address the issues, as the member knows.
