WATER LICENSING FEES - HARVEY WATER
I refer to my earlier question regarding the new water licensing fees proposed to be introduced on 1 July. (1) Will the minister confirm that Harvey Water cooperative’s water originates from Water Corporation dams? (2) If not, from where does it originate? (3) Will the minister confirm that under the new fee structure a farmer with a water licence for 166 megalitres held in a privately constructed dam in the south west will pay a $1 200 annual water licence fee, or approximately 240 times the amount required of an equivalent farmer at Harvey? (4) If no to (3), what are the comparative figures? (5) Will the minister explain how the proposed water licensing system can be deemed to be fair and equitable for the region’s farmers? Hon KIM CHANCE

The Department of Water is unable to provide a response on the cost of water to farmers at Harvey because it falls within the jurisdiction of Harvey Water. (4) Not applicable.
