(1) What was the CALM budgetary allocation for land purchase, and expenditure on land purchase, for the following financial years -
(a) 1997-1998;
(b) 1998-1999; and
(c) 1999-2000?
(2) What is the CALM budgetary allocation for land purchase this financial year?
(3) What lands were purchased from this fund in the 1999-2000 financial year and at what individual cost?

The Minister Replied:
(1) CALM's budgetary allocation for conservation land purchases was $200 000 in each of 1997/98, 1998/99 and 1999/00, plus $182 000 that was carried forward from the end of the 1996/97 financial year. In addition, there was an allocation for conservation land purchases under the Gascoyne-Murchison Strategy (GMS) of $1 million for each of 1997/98 and 1998/99 and $1.2 million in 1999/00. While there was no specific allocation of Salinity Action Plan funds to conservation land purchase, some purchases have been funded out of the allocations under the Plan for Crown reserves management and natural diversity recovery catchments. Financial assistance has also been received from the Commonwealth Government under the National Reserve System Program of the Natural Heritage Trust.
Expenditure for land purchase in association with costs such as valuation, legal fees and surveys was:
(a) 1997/98
$369 291 in State funds and $132 923 in Commonwealth funds.
(b) 1998/99
$1 109 111 in State funds and $2 290 241 in Commonwealth funds.
(c) 1999/2000
$1 278 304 in State funds and $1 001 216 in Commonwealth funds.
Additionally in 1999/00 the Government provided a capital appropriation of $9.5 million for land between Collie and Dardanup purchased as part of the new Wellington National Park.
(2) $556 608 (includes $356 608 carried forward from the end of the 1999/00 financial year), plus $2 945 000 (includes $1 745 000 carried forward from the 1999/00 financial year) for the Gascoyne-Murchison Strategy.
(3) The following parcels of land were purchased in 1999/2000:
