HALLS CREEK HOSPITAL - BIRTHING SUITE
I refer to the facilities at the new Halls Creek hospital. (1) Can the Premier confirm that the new hospital does not include a birthing suite? (2) If so, why was a birthing suite not incorporated into the hospital? (3) Is this just another example of the government’s failure to provide appropriate resources and services to Aboriginal communities? Mr A.J. CARPENTER

I thank the member for Roe for the question and for his support of the Subiaco Football Club. (1)-(3) I am advised, and I have read the relevant documentation, that there is no birthing suite and it was done on the best advice of the Department of Health official on the facilities that we could properly support at Halls Creek.
