I refer to the increasing national and international concern about skin cancer that is related to the use of solaria. (1) Is the minister concerned about the increased rates of skin cancer through the use of solaria? (2) What is the minister’s time line for addressing this public health concern? (3) What community consultation has been planned in this process? (4) Will the minister table the advice received from the Radiological Council and referred to in the answer to question without notice 61, which was asked on 26 February 2008 by Hon Norman Moore? As such, the Minister for Health has sought advice from the Radiological Council on the options available for regulation of solaria under the Radiation Safety Act. That advice is currently being considered.
