POLICE - NUMBERS
I refer to the question I asked on 13 November about how many police officers are on 12 months’ leave without pay. The answer given was 26. Will the minister detail the reasons - for example, stress leave or leave as a result of injury - that 26 police officers are on leave without pay for 12 months? Hon LJILJANNA RAVLICH

I thank the member for some notice of this question. On behalf of the Minister for Regional Development representing the Minister for Police and Emergency Services, I provide the following response. Twelve police officers are on leave without pay whilst employed with the Australian Federal Police at Perth Airport. Police officers generally take leave without pay for a number of personal reasons, including travel, educational opportunities and family responsibilities. Without reviewing individual applications, it is not possible to identify the reasons for the remaining 13 police officers in the time given. Police officers are able to access paid sick leave options for health-related purposes.
