SCHOOLS — SERVICES
1210. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Education:
I refer to the answer provided to
question without notice 1097 asked on 17 September 2024 regarding services
provided in government schools.
(1) Can the minister list the
schools that currently employ a —
(a) youth worker; and
(b) social worker?
(2) If youth and
social workers are not located permanently on a school site, which schools do
they service?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) During 2024,
youth and social workers were employed at the following schools. Social workers
were employed at Armadale Senior High
School, Challis Community Primary School, Seaforth Primary S chool, Shenton College and Westfield Park Primary School.
Youth Workers were employed at Ashdale Secondary College, Aubin Grove Primary School, Balga Senior High School, Canning
Vale College, Cape Naturaliste College, Carnarvon Community College,
Collie Senior High School, Exmouth District High School, Hammond Park Secondary
College, Kalgoorlie–Boulder Community High School, Karratha Senior High School, Meekatharra District High School, WA
College of Agriculture—Cunderdin and Warnbro Community High
School.
(2) Social
Workers are also employed in positions within the department's
statewide services division and North
Metropolitan Education Regional Office. A multidisciplinary team within the department's
statewide services division includes social workers, who provide direct
short-term intensive support to families across the state via a referral
process. A social worker service is delivered through the North Metropolitan
Education Regional Office, which engages with families from that region if
their child is not enrolled at a school, and consults with schools that have
attendance issues.
