HEALTH — AMBULANCE RAMPING
385. Dr D.J. HONEY to the Minister for Health:
I have a supplementary question. How
many more excuses will the minister invent before we see a meaningful reduction in ambulance ramping hours to anywhere
near those achieved by the previous Liberal–National government?

AnswerView source ↗

There is nowhere in the world that
will achieve ramping numbers, or the same kind of profile, that we saw pre-pandemic. There is nowhere in the world that
is going to do that, so the member is setting himself up for a world of
pain if that is a commitment that his government is going to make.
Ms L. Mettam interjected.
The SPEAKER : Order, please!
Ms
A. SANDERSON : We are making
genuine and meaningful investment and reform in our health system, and it is showing with the significant reduction in
those ramping hours. Also, I have to say, in May and that first week of June, we performed 1 000 more elective surgeries
across the system than we have previously. There were 1 000 more elective surgeries. We are doing a record number
of surgeries and we are seeing a record number of patients, as well as
increased attendance. The system is busy—it is always busy in winter—and
it will flex to accommodate those patients, and it will have to do it in the
best way possible by seeing the sickest patients first.
The SPEAKER : Members, that
concludes question time.
