WITTENOOM - WITHDRAWAL OF WATER AND ELECTRICITY SUPPLIES
My question is to the Minister for the Kimberley, Pilbara and Gascoyne, who I gather is away on parliamentary business. Will somebody answer the question on his behalf? Hon Kim Chance : Yes. Hon NORMAN MOORE : My question is - (1) Why is cabinet further considering the Wittenoom strategy report; and why am I unable to access the report until after further consideration by cabinet? (2) Did the government consider compulsory acquisition of Wittenoom properties; and, if so, why is it not proceeding to do so? (3) Why did the Wittenoom steering committee not meet Wittenoom residents to discuss the future of Wittenoom when the chairman, in a letter to residents dated 13 June 2003, promised to do so? (4) When did the government make the decision to withdraw utility services from Wittenoom from 30 June 2006? (5) Has the government considered transferring Wittenoom’s power generation assets to Wittenoom Residents Ltd in the same way that the water supply was transferred; and, if so, why has this not occurred? Hon KIM CHANCE
