LANDGATE
— LAND REGISTRATION SYSTEM
828. Dr D.J. HONEY to the Minister for Housing:
I
have a supplementary question. Given that such transfers are largely done
electronically, has the minister personally investigated the cause of
these very substantial planning delays?

AnswerView source ↗

As I have already said on the
record, we have a heated construction market.
Dr D.J. Honey : They are
electronic transfers.
The SPEAKER : Order, please.
Mr J.N. CAREY : Can I just say
this, the majority of electronic transfers are done very efficiently, but the
reality is that there are more complexities with certain cases that will take a
longer time frame.
Ms L. Mettam : You have no
idea.
Mr J.N. CAREY : No idea? This
is the Leader of the Liberal Party who cannot do any live-crosses or streams because she has no technical detail! I mean, the
Leader of the Liberal Party has not got one housing policy. She trots out and says that we have a problem with housing, yet she has zero policies!
When pushed on planning reform, she does not
get the basics. What is a significant pathway process just out of interest,
member for Vasse? Could you let us know?
Several members interjected.
Mr J.N. CAREY : What is the
threshold, member for Vasse?
The SPEAKER : Minister, I am
trying to discourage interjections, if you could bring your answer to a close.
Mr J.N. CAREY : It is very
evident that the Leader of the Liberal Party has no understanding of basic
housing or planning policy in Western Australia. That is evident —
Ms L. Mettam : How's
it going under you?
Mr J.N. CAREY : I understand
Leader of the Liberal Party is angry and embarrassed about her lack of detail
and that is why she is yelling out. She is very angry and embarrassed. I understand
that she does not understand the basics of the planning system.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Order please!
Mr J.N. CAREY : For the
record, the Leader of the Liberal Party is very angry and upset. I am sorry
that she was embarrassed on radio and that she does not understand the basics
of the planning system. In between now and next week, Leader of the Liberal
Party, why not get a briefing on the planning system? That might help her
actually address Western Australians' concerns.
The SPEAKER : That concludes
question time.
