376. Hon Dr Steve Thomas to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation:
I refer to the
Kwinana NewGen gas-fired power plant that provides energy into the South West
Interconnected System.
(1) Has the government been asked for public
funding to be provided to NewGen by any person in the last 12 months?
(2) If yes to (1), by whom, when was the request
made and how much was it for?
(3) Did former energy minister Reece Whitby ever
seek public funding or a public bailout for NewGen?
(4) If yes to (3), under what circumstances?
(5) What would be the impacts of a financial failure
of NewGen?
