DRAFT
FOREST MANAGEMENT PLAN — CONSULTATION
28. Hon GIZ WATSON to the minister representing the
Minister for Forestry:
I refer to the assessment of the draft forest management
plan.
(1) How many
meetings, tours or site visits that included discussion of the draft forest
management plan have taken place between the minister or a member of his
department and the Forest Products Commission, the department of conservation
and land management, and any other parties?
(2) Will the
minister please provide details of these meetings, tours or site visits,
including who attended and when and where the meetings occurred?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice of the question. It is
assumed that when the member asks about a member of the minister's
department, she means a member of his ministerial staff. It is also assumed
that when the member refers to the department of conservation and land
management, she means the Department of Environment and Conservation.
(1)–(2)
In the minister's five years as the Minister for Forestry, he has
attended many meetings with the Forest Products Commission, the Department of
Environment and Conservation and other parties, such as representatives of the
forestry industry, conservation groups and others. The draft forest management
plan would have been discussed at many of these meetings. If the member asks a
question seeking information about meetings with specific people or discussions
about a specific aspect of the draft forest management plan, the minister will
endeavour to provide an answer.
