The Minister for Police and Emergency Services has provided the following response - The Western Australia Police Service advises that the requested data is recorded at the end of each month. Therefore the answers are provided at the closest date possible to that requested. The actual number of sworn police officers - not FTEs - is as follows: as at 31 January 2001, 4 779; as at 30 June 2001, 4 893; and as at 31 May 2004, 4 985.
