(1) Annual contract payments for the operation, repair and maintenance of the Northbridge Tunnel for 2009 were $4.68m (ex GST). The lump sum contract is subject to adjustment in accordance with the rise and fall calculations using published Australian Bureau of Statistics indices.
(2) There are currently no known water leakage problems associated with the Northbridge Tunnel and no specific intervention has been required for several years.
(3) Extensive investigation of the geology, geotechnical characteristics and hydrogeological factors were undertaken during design and construction of the tunnel. The tunnel contractor continually monitors the water table associated with the tunnel, but not the surrounding area. However, if the water table was found to vary significantly, it would be used as a trigger to investigate what is happening in the surrounding areas. To date, water level movement has been minimal.
