(a) National Construction Code (NCC) 2025 provisions that may increase apartment construction costs are waterproofing and water shedding, condensation mitigation and car park fire safety.
(b) The cost impacts vary depending on the building design and type of construction. Examples are provided in the impact analysis undertaken by the Australian Building Codes Board. The additional costs can be nil for building designs that already adopt good design practices. It is important to note that in all cases, the new provisions result in net benefit to owners and society by avoiding costly remedial works.
(c) There has been no specific action on issues with the NCC.
(d) Not applicable.
