The 2014-2017 Western Australia Police Workforce Plan captures agency-wide workforce initiatives planned for the next 3-4 years. This Plan complements
Frontline 2020,
a comprehensive reform program that will ensure Western Australia Police will be able to continue to meet the challenge of addressing the increasing community demand for policing services.
The Plan will contribute to the development of a sustainable service delivery model founded on an ability to attract and retain a diverse, professional and agile workforce. The Plan has three themes into which planned initiatives are grouped:
Theme 1: Workforce Reform:
Re-aligned structures, positions, processes and policies to meet service provision priorities.
Theme 2: Attraction and Diversity:
Enhanced appeal of the agency as an employer, improved suitability of applicants and enriched diversity across the workforce to represent the community served by Western Australia Police.
Theme 3: Engagement, Development and Leadership:
An environment that values, supports and enhances our workforce and leadership capabilities.
In addition, Western Australia Police has engaged an external consultant to lead a significant organisational review. A key component of this review is the development of strategies aimed at addressing workforce issues affecting officer availability and deployability. One of those issues is the growing percentage of non-operational officers, which directly impacts frontline capacity. The review is expected to be completed by the end of September 2014.
