Further to my previous question to the Minister for Racing and Gaming in which the minister indicated the Government’s intention to continue the prohibition on poker machines in clubs and pubs in Western Australia, will the minister confirm or deny that the introduction of poker machines to the Burswood Resort Casino will be approved? Hon N.D. GRIFFITHS

I thank the member for the question.  It is an interesting question, because there is a level of ignorance in the community about electronic gaming machines.  The use of the term “poker machines” clouds the issue.  There are electronic gaming machines of a nature used at Burswood Resort Casino and there are electronic gaming machines of a different kind used elsewhere in Australia.  I am aware that Burswood is interested in having the same sort of machines that are used elsewhere in Australia introduced into Western Australia.  I note that and I go no further.
