representing the Attorney General:
I refer to the Guardianship and
Administration Act 1990.
(1) How many
applications were received by the State Administrative Tribunal in 2023–24?
(2) How many
people are currently under guardianship in WA?
(3) Of the total
from (2), how many are —

(b) men?
(4) As noted on page 18 of the State Administrative
Tribunal's 2023 annual report, as a need to handle demand , did
the Department of Justice appoint additional Aboriginal advisory officers to

I
thank the member for some notice of the question. The Attorney General has
provided me with the following answer.
(1) Between 1
July 2023 and 30 June 2024, the State Administrative Tribunal received 6 026
guardianship and administration applications.
(2)–(3) It is not possible to provide the member with a response
within the time available today because the member has asked for a lot of information. I kindly
request that the member place those parts of her question on notice.
(4) A full-time senior Aboriginal advisory officer was
appointed to the State Administrative Tribunal in September 2023. Prior to this appointment, there
was one shared resource within the Higher Courts Directorate of the
Department of Justice. That resource is now dedicated to the District Court on
a full-time basis.
