Become informed.", and I ask: (a) How many West Australians received this message; (b) On what basis were West Australians that received this message selected; (c) Did you or any member of your Ministerial Office direct the WA Police Force to send this text message: (i) If yes, what was the job position title of the individual who directed the WA Police Force to send this text message; (d) When were you advised that the WA Police Force was sending this text message; (e) Is it common practice for the WA Police Force to send out a text message that relates to a Bill that has not yet been passed through Parliament: (i) If yes, please detail the other examples when WA Police Force have sent out a text message relating to a Bill that had not yet been passed through Parliament; and (ii) If no, please provide the rationale for why the WA Police Force sent out a text message relating to a Bill that had not yet been passed through Parliament; (f) Who decided the wording of the text message: (i) Please detail their job position title; and (g) What was the exact total financial cost of sending this text message?

The Western Australia Police Force advise:
(a) - (b)  The WA Police Force sent the message to all Firearm Licence Holders for whom they have a mobile phone number.
(c)   No
(d)   The WA Police Force keep me regularly updated on firearms related matters including communications.
(e)   The intent of the text messages was to raise awareness and inform Firearm Licence Holders.
