Trainee doctors—India
172. Hon Steve Martin to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister
for Health:
I refer to the Premier's speech at the 2024 gala dinner
of the Australian Indian Medical Association WA, in which the Premier was reported
as saying that an influx of trainee doctors from India would arrive in Perth in
January 2025 ready to work across the state.
(1) How many trainee doctors from India began work
in the WA public health system in each of the following months:
(a) January 2025;
(b) February 2025; and
(c) March 2025?
(2) In what hospitals or other services were the
doctors in (1) employed?
(3) Is the minister aware of any concerns raised
by the Australian Medical Association about the impact on training
opportunities for locally trained medical registrars?
