I refer to the Dunsborough Waste Water Treatment Plant (DWWTP), and ask -
(1) Is the DWWTP currently compliant with the conditions of its
Environmental Protection Act 1986
sewage facility license?
(2) If no to (1), what are the matters subject to the breach of license and what remedial action is required to bring about compliance?
(3) Is the DWWTP currently compliant with the conditions of its
Environmental Protection Act 1986
liquid waste facility license?
(4) If no to (3), what are the matters subject to the breach of license and what remedial action is required to bring about compliance?
(5) Has the DWWTP ever breached conditions of its
Environmental Protection Act 1986
sewage treatment facility license or liquid waste facility license?
(6) If yes to (5), what are the matters subject to the breach of license and what remedial action was required to bring about compliance?

(1-2) Yes.
(3-4) Not applicable - the Dunsborough Wastewater Treatment Plant (DWWTP) does not hold a licence for liquid waste.
(5-6) The DWWTP breached its licence conditions for wastewater overtopping ponds. The Department of Environment and Conservation received a report from the Water Corporation on 12 December 2008 advising that wastewater had overtopped the storage dam. DEC subsequently requested that the Water Corporation provide a report detailing the unauthorised discharge, including the cause of the failure of the media filters and the delay in repairing the filters.
On 28 January 2009, the Water Corporation confirmed that the filters had been repaired and were fully reinstated on 2 January 2009, following a delay in supply of the necessary equipment. The Water Corporation has since reviewed its system to manage overtopping of wastewater and spare filters are now held for emergency situations.
