Keeping students safe in schools is of the highest importance for the Department of Education.
The relevant criteria and consultation procedures are outlined within the School Education Act 1999 (the Act), particularly under section 96.
d. The Department provides periodic updates to the Minister as appropriate. The processes to review CEO-initiated exclusions is outlined in the Act. Planning, changing and monitoring of RAMPS is embedded within the multi-agency protocol. To date, Minister has not received advice recommending a specific evaluation of the effectiveness of Section 96G and as such she has not requested one.
