(1) The Department of Health has a current tender for the Continence Management and Advice Service. The commencement date of the service is dependent on the outcome of the tender and the Department of Health expects this to be 1 February 2007. 2) The Department of Health has taken responsibility for the clinical component of the service, known as the Continence Management and Advice Service. This service will be contracted to the non Government sector via the Department of Health tender, which will provide clinical assessment, a continence management plan and prescription of continence products. The Commission will work with the Department of Health contractor to match the subsidy for the individuals who have been provided with a continence management plan by the Continence Management and Advice Service. 3) The subsidy amount is up to $470 per anum. 4) Eligibility criteria encompass seniors and adults with a disability who have chronic incontinence, receive a health care card or pensioner concession card and are not eligible for the Continence Aid Assistance Scheme or Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) Continence Scheme. 5) Clients are to be referred to the Scheme from GPs, Health Professionals or through self referral. Once clients are assessed for eligibility they receive a continence management plan and product prescription via a Continence Adviser. The subsequent product subsidy is then allocated to the related client. 6) The successful proponent of the Clinical Service will be responsible for service industry and community promotion, as per the Department of Health tender process requirements.
