GRANDCARERS —
PERTH ZOO PASSES
1409. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the Leader of the House representing
the Minister for Child Protection:
I
refer to the minister's media statement, ''Grandcarers go wild
for National Grandparents Day'', of 28 October 2019, from which
it is clear that only 400 of the more than 4 000 grandcarers in the Perth
metropolitan area will be able to access a free pass to Perth Zoo.
(1) What eligibility criteria will
enable a grandcarer to access one of the passes?
(2) Who will determine whether a grandcarer
meets the criteria?
(3) If more than 400 grandcarers
wish to access one of the passes, will this be facilitated?
(4) What is the cost of this
initiative?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Access was
open to all grandcarers. Wanslea Family Services Inc defines a grandcarer as a grandparent
with full-time responsibility for raising their grandchildren.
(2) There was no formal assessment
of eligibility.
(3) Yes.
(4) The cost will be $19 440.
