519. Hon HELEN BULLOCK to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Regional Development:
I refer to the minister's media statement of 22 June
2012 in relation to a housing package for service workers in Port Hedland.
(1) What is the
total cost of the project and how much of that cost will be provided by the
state government?
(2) For the state government
contribution —
(a) what agencies are providing
funding;
(b) how much is provided from each
agency; and
(c) what items in the 2012–13
budget papers show the funding?
(3) For any non–state government contribution —
(a) what groups are providing
funding; and
(b) how much is being provided by
each group?

question. I note that the question is dated 27 June, so the answer is at that
date.
(1) It is
assumed the question refers to the Osprey service workers' project. Negotiations
are still progressing with the first-ranked proponent, and at this stage it is
not possible to accurately detail the total cost.
(2) (a) The
package of works referred to in the joint ministerial media statement of 22
June is to be funded by royalties for regions and delivered through the
Department of Housing.
(b) The
Department of Housing is providing $20.5 million funding towards the project
from the royalties for regions regional infrastructure and headworks fund—''Housing
for Workers''.
(c) It is
chapter 7, ''Royalties for Regions'', regional infrastructure
projects, ''Housing for Workers''.
(3) Negotiations are still underway regarding third party
funding.
