RESPONSIBLE
PARENTING PROGRAM
406. Hon STEPHEN DAWSON to the
Minister for Child Protection:
I refer to the Responsible Parenting program and the Government Mid-year Financial Projections
Statement that shows the Responsible Parenting program will cease to be funded
in regional areas through royalties for regions from 2015–16.
(1) In which
areas is the Responsible Parenting program being delivered with the assistance
of royalties for regions funding?
(2) With the
withdrawal of royalties for regions funding, how will this program be funded in
future years?
(3) Given that
the Department for Child Protection and Family Support must find savings
through the workforce renewal policy, one per cent general government
efficiency dividend and other cuts, will the program run in its current form?

Before I answer that question, I indicated that as soon as I
had the information on the last question brought to my attention, I would
provide it.
[See question without notice 395 on page 2589: Disability
Services Commission — Asbestos Management.]
Hon HELEN MORTON : The Disability Services Commission
acknowledges the Auditor General's findings and accepts that some
improvements can be made to its existing asbestos management practices to
minimise the risk of exposure to asbestos. The commission does not have any
high-risk asbestos–containing material at its current properties and is
working to remove all asbestos-containing materials at its properties. To date,
the commission has implemented the following strategies. It has conducted an
inspection of its properties and updated its asbestos register. In consultation
with Building Management and Works, it has engaged an expert consultant to
oversee the removal of all asbestos-containing material from its properties. It
has commenced the removal of asbestos-containing material from its properties.
The commission expects that all asbestos-containing material will be removed
from all its properties during 2015–16, and reviewed an asbestos
awareness training program to be implemented in 2015–16.
I hope that covers all the questions that were put without
notice. I do not know whether it does, but I think it covers most of them.
The answer to question without notice 406 just asked now is
as follows.
(1) The areas in
which the Responsible Parenting program is being delivered with the assistance
of royalties for regions funding include the goldfields, great southern,
Murchison, Pilbara, south west and wheatbelt.
(2)–(3) The
continuation of royalties for regions for the Responsible Parenting program
will be announced during the annual budget process.
