(1) It is not feasible to provide precise figures for the cost of implementing, monitoring and auditing the
Forest Management Plan 2004-2013
(FMP), as the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) does not comprehensively record expenditure against these activities and includes costs incurred in managing the State's forests within the framework of the FMP. The total cost of the Sustainable Forest Management Service in the 2012/13 Budget Statements is $52.732 million.
(2) (a) Within the $52.732 million an amount of $7.289 million is allocated for works undertaken for the Forest Products Commission (FPC). The FPC also pays an annual contribution of $0.9 million towards implementation of the FMP. The FPC also pays for services provided by DEC, such as fire suppression in pine plantations and corporate services.
(b) Nil
