2. I am not specifically aware of these claims. The DPI is not responsible for the existing ?track markers? which were placed a long time ago by fishermen and charter boat owners in conjunction with the Coral Bay Volunteer Sea Rescue Group. The navigational arrangements in the area are currently under review. 3. Yes, a '5 Knot' speed limit sign south of Coral Bay has recently been replaced. All other marine safety signage at Coral Bay and the surrounding areas has been maintained. 4. A signage register is maintained within the region to ensure all marine safety signs throughout the region are periodically surveyed. In addition, DPI staff carry out routine inspections. A comprehensive inspection and replacement program usually occurs in the off tourist season over the cyclone period. Given the extreme weather conditions experienced in the northwest it is not uncommon for signs to need replacing after a relatively short period of time. The DPI also manages a planned maintenance system to ensure DPI installed navigation markers are inspected annually and repaired as required.
