Decarbonisation—LNG exports
1130. Hon Sophie McNeill to the Leader of the House
representing the Premier:
I refer to the draft
Deloitte report commissioned by the Premier's office that identifies India and
Indonesia as potential growth markets for WA's LNG exports and to the recent
decision by the International Court of Justice that found that governments are
obliged under international law to limit climate pollution from private actors
in their jurisdiction.
(1) Does this government support the expansion of
WA LNG exports to new markets that do not currently import WA LNG?
(2) How many meetings has the Premier's office had
this year with companies or governments from India, Indonesia or Cambodia
regarding the export of LNG from WA?
(3) How many of these meetings involved
representatives from WA LNG exporting companies?
(4) Did any of these meetings involve discussions
on the risk of WA LNG crowding out renewables?
I seek leave to
table the draft report referenced in my question.
Leave denied.
