I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1) As part of
the yearly operational planning cycle, a review of the Wyndham office was
undertaken, including the number of cases it manages and the staffing required
to support this work. This is being done in the context of the overall needs
and available resources in the East Kimberley district. As part of this review
the East Kimberley district is considering the service delivery models and
staff configuration that would best serve the Wyndham community. This could include,
for example, co-locating Wyndham staff with other agencies or moving Wyndham
staff to areas of greater need in the district.
(2) Staff were
informed that if they were affected by any staffing changes, a number of
processes, including natural attrition, relocation and voluntary separation,
would be available. Wyndham staff, as with staff across the department, have
been provided with information regarding voluntary redundancies and the
application process this entails as set by the Public Sector Commission.
(3) Any
operational change and resource allocation will be conditional on ensuring
appropriate service provision to meet the needs of the Wyndham community.
