I refer to the Premier’s comments on
6PR
on 9 December 2009 concerning requests for State Government funding for the Danny Green Vs Roy Jones Junior boxing match, and ask -
(1) Were representatives of Danny Green, Green Machine Boxing or anyone associated with promoting the bout, advised by Eventscorp not to apply for funding because it was unlikely to be approved?
(2) If yes to (1), will the Premier apologise to Danny Green for suggesting that his representatives had submitted some sort of ‘half baked proposal’ to the State Government for funding and admit that the ‘pretty vague sort of approach to the State Government’ referred to by the Premier was the result of Eventscorp’s response to initial enquiries?
(3) Does the Premier have any proof that the promoters of the bout, or any other representatives of Danny Green, requested half a million dollars from the State Government?
(4) If yes to (3), will the Premier table that proof?
(5) If no to (3), will the Premier apologise to Danny Green and his representatives for misrepresenting them and to the Western Australian public for misleading them?
