QuestionView source ↗

I refer the minister to a British newspaper report that child rapist and convicted paedophile Robert Excell has signed a £150 000 book deal with a US publisher to publish his memoirs. (1) Will the minister confirm the British newspaper report that Mr Excell wrote his memoirs while in jail in Western Australia? (2) Will the minister confirm that Mr Excell signed the deal while in jail? (3) If this report is correct, will the minister pressure the British government to stop this paedophile from ever profiting from his crimes? Mr J.B. D’ORAZIO

(1)-(3) If the Leader of the Opposition had given some notice of his question I might have been in a position to answer it. I will provide the Leader of the Opposition with the information he requires. All of us would find it abhorrent if someone such as Excell profited from the proceeds of such a deal.
