representing the Minister for Energy:
My
question without notice, of which some notice is given, is to the hardworking
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Energy. I refer to
the construction of big battery storage in Western Australia.
(1) What is the
total stored energy that will be available to the south west interconnected
system from the privately owned Neoen big battery in Collie by —
(a) 1 January 2025; and
(b) 31 December 2025?
(2) What is the
total stored energy that will be available to the south west interconnected
system from the Synergy Collie big battery in Collie by —
(a) 1 January 2025; and
(b) 31 December 2025?

I thank the tenacious member for
some notice of the question. On behalf of the Minister for Energy, I provide
the following answer.
(1) The Neoen
Collie Battery is privately owned. Publicly available information confirms that
the total energy available to the south west interconnected system from the
Neoen Collie Battery will be —
(a) 219 megawatts/877 megawatt hours
by 1 January 2025; and
(b) 560 megawatts/2 240 megawatt
hours by 31 December 2025.
(2) The total
stored energy that will be available to the south west interconnected system
from the Synergy Collie big battery in Collie is —
(a) not applicable; and
(b) 500 megawatts/2 000 megawatt
hours by 31 December 2025.
