Housing—Bunbury
843. Hon Tim Clifford to
the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Housing and Works:
In early September,
the government announced the release of 55 hectares of residential land in the Bunbury
suburb of Usher—enough for around 300 new homes—to be sold to
private developers. Given the extent of WA's housing crisis and, in particular,
the growing lack of affordable homes, I ask the following.
(1) Has the government allocated any portion of this
land release to affordable housing?
(2) If yes to (1), how much of the land?
(3) If no to (1), why was it not made a priority?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. I provide the following on
behalf of the Minister for Housing and Works.
(1)–(3) Respondents to the "offers
invited" campaign are required to outline their development proposal for
the site, in addition to purchase price and commercial terms. This includes
addressing how the proposed development will meet housing affordability and
diversity of product.
