PILBARA
UNDERGROUND POWER PROJECT
230. Hon KATE DOUST to the Minister for Energy:
My question without notice is again to the Minister for
Energy. I refer to the Pilbara underground power project.
(1) When is the current expected date of completion of this
project?
(2) Is the government still committed to the project and will
it be retendering for a new contractor?

(1)–(2) I thank the honourable
member for the question. Yes; without a shadow of a doubt, we are still
committed to it. I am sure the member is aware that there have been some issues
with one component of the project. It is a royalties for regions-funded
project. I met with Horizon Power about the underground power project two weeks
ago for an update. We will continue to focus on making sure that we provide the
best and most prompt service delivery for the underground power project
possible. At this stage, I will say, they are still identifying the issues with
one particular component of the underground power project, but we are still
committed to it.
