COUNCILLOR MICHELLE STECK —
DECLARATION OF INTEREST
496. Mr J.N. HYDE to the Minister for Local Government:
In relation to the process of declarations of interest in
decisions made by Bunbury city councillors, I ask —
(1) Is the
minister aware that Councillor Michelle Steck, partner of Geoff Prosser,
developer and owner of Eaton Fair Shopping Centre, failed to declare an
interest and participated in debate on an issue relating to the expansion of
Bunbury Forum Shopping Centre?
(2) If yes, what action does he intend to take against Ms Steck?

(1)–(2)
I thank the member for Perth for his question. I do not think I was at the
council meeting when that was debated. I have been to a couple of council
meetings over the past four years and I do not recall everything that was said
at every council meeting.
Mr J.N. Hyde : Do
you read the local paper in Bunbury?
Mr G.M. CASTRILLI :
Member for Perth, I am aware of Councillor Michelle Steck, and regarding the
Bunbury city council, it is up to these councillors to declare their financial
interests. If somebody has got any complaint, they can lodge it through the
appropriate channels and my department will certainly look into it, consider it
and make its determination.
