I refer to the "Useful lives" section of the Main Roads Annual Report 2025, on page 146, which provided indicative figures for different asset classes held by Main Roads, and I ask: (a) for each of the below asset classes, listed with their indicative useful life, will the Minister please provide a Main Roads estimate of the percentage of assets within that class that currently exceed their useful life: (i) Road Infrastructure - Pavement - Gravel roads (12 years); (ii) Road Infrastructure - Pavement - Metropolitan asphalt roads (40 years); (iii) Road Infrastructure - Pavement - Rural sealed roads (50 years); (iv) Road Infrastructure - Drainage (50 to 80 years); (v) Road Infrastructure - Seals (7 to 19 years); (vi) Road Infrastructure - Structures (mainly bridges) (50 to 100 years); (vii) Road Infrastructure - Road furniture (5 to 50 years); (viii) Property, Plant and Equipment - Buildings (includes surplus buildings) (25 to 40 years); (ix) Property, Plant and Equipment - Plant and vehicles (5 to 10 years); (x) Property, Plant and Equipment - Equipment and furniture (5 to 10 years); and (xi) Property, Plant and Equipment - Computer hardware and software (3 to 5 years)?

(a) Main Roads assets are managed in a sustainable way to ensure that the assets achieve their full economic service lives.
Main Roads continues to prioritise funding from the available budget for high-priority maintenance activities to manage risk. Redirecting resources to lower-priority areas would elevate risks to asset preservation, safety, and reputational damage.
