In relation to public housing in Collie, including Department of Housing stock, Government Regional Officers’ Housing (GROH) and Community Housing Organisations that work in partnership with Department of Housing, I ask:
(a) how many houses, units or apartments are vacant in Collie;
(b) how many people are on the waiting list for public housing;
(c) of these people, how many are on the priority housing waiting list;
(d) once approved for public housing, what is the average waiting period people are facing before they are allocated accommodation in Collie;
(e) what measures does the Government have in place to help with the shortage of public housing in Collie;
(f) what is the quarterly expenditure the Government is spending on maintenance of public housing in Collie;
(g) how much has the Government spent year to date on maintaining public housing in Collie, and of this amount, by how much has it gone over budget;
(h) if over budget, will the Government be factoring this in when allocating funding in the 2013–2014 year and how; and
(i) are there plans in the 2013–2014 financial year to build new homes in Collie, and if yes, how many?

(a) As at 30 April 2013, 18 including eight listed or prepared for sale,
four under significant refurbishment, three awaiting demolition, one under
assessment for disposal, one under vacated maintenance and one available for
allocation.
(b) As at 30 April 2013, 68 applications totalling 114 people.
(c) As at 30 April 2013, four applications totalling five people.
(d) As at 30 April 2013, 88 weeks.
(e) Given current stock levels of 198 properties and around 35 occupations
in the last 12 months, current waiting times are unlikely to be excessive
compared to other parts of the region or the State. While applicants are
waiting, the regional office can discuss alternative housing options with them,
including the Department's bond assistance loan scheme, which assists people to
access private rental accommodation.
(f) In the Southwest administrative region, which includes Collie:
Quarter 1 (Jul-Sep 12): $1 701 530
Quarter 2 (Oct-Dec 12): $1 527 533
Quarter 3 (Jan-Mar 13): $1 447 318
Quarter 4 (Apr-Jun 13): $484 365 as at 30 April 2013
(g) As at 30 April 2013, for the Southwest administrative region, which
includes Collie, $5 160 746 has been spent within budget allocations.
(h) Not applicable
(i) Under the social housing program, six units are currently under
construction and scheduled to complete in 2013-14. There are no immediate
plans to build for Government Regional Officer Housing in Collie in the current
or next financial year, unless demand arises.
