(1) When the Fire and Emergency Services Authority (FESA) is training its staff, including bushfire brigade volunteers, does the training include an explanation of the ecological consequences of inappropriate fire management, including issues relating to the seasonality and frequency of prescribed burning and the need to create a mosaic of burnt/unburnt bushland?
(2) If yes, who has prepared the advice that is provided to staff and volunteers on these training courses?
(3) If yes, will the Minister table a copy of the presentation notes or similar used in this training?
(4) If no, will FESA include such environmental information in its future training programs as a matter of urgency and, if not, why not?

(2) The Fire and Emergency Services Authority (FESA) advise the training programs were developed as a result of ongoing consultation (over many years) between FESA and CALM. As per FESA's Training Procedures Manual, a Subject Matter Advisory Group (SMAG) was formed consisting of both FESA and CALM Subject Matter Experts and coordinated by the FESA Training Centre. As a result of the SMAG, a Training Resource Kit (TRK) was developed that is nationally recognized and addresses the issues raised. (3) Yes, however, as the document is so extensive, a CD copy of the TRK has been provided. (4) Not applicable.
