(1) The Government's $1 billion Pilbara Cities initiative is addressing the demand for residential land in the Pilbara, and is doing so in a way that transforms the region through building modern, vibrant cities and regional centres that can support and deliver skilled workers to major economic projects in the Pilbara.
The Pilbara Cities Office (PCO) has been working closely with the Town of Port Hedland and other key stakeholders in the identification and de-constraint of lands for residential development in Port in South Hedland. The Lazy Lands Project run by the PCO seeks to identify under-utilised Crown land that can be brought into the development pipeline as soon as possible.
If the Member requires more information, I am happy to arrange for him to be briefed by the PCO.
(2) The PCO is guided by the Town of Port Hedland's Pilbara's Port City Growth Plan and the Pilbara Planning and Infrastructure Framework. In conjunction with state and local government entities the PCO will continue to identify surplus land that can be utilised for future development.
