In terms of the Department of Local Government and Regional Development, please be advised as follows:
(1) Nil.
(2) Nil.
(3) Nil.
(4) Not applicable.
However the Department of Local Government and Regional Development has a Disability Access and Inclusion Plan which has been approved by the Disability Services Commission.
The Department's plan states in part:
The Department is committed to ensuring that people with disabilities, their families and carers are able to access the Department's services, facilities and information by providing them with the same opportunities, rights and responsibilities enjoyed by all other people in the community.
The Department intends to achieve this by ensuring that:
(a) People with disabilities have the same opportunities as other people to access our services and any events organised by us.
(b) People with disabilities have the same opportunities as other people to access our office and other facilities.
(c) People with disabilities receive information from us in a format that will enable them to access information as readily as other people are able to access it.
(d) People with disabilities receive the same level and quality of service from our employees as other people.
(e) People with disabilities have the same opportunities as other people to make complaints to us.
(f) People with disabilities have the same opportunities as other people to participate in any public consultation we may undertake.
In terms of the Department of Fisheries, please be advised as follows:
(1) Nil.

However the Department has for a number of years progressed initiatives aimed at improving access to Departmental services for those with a disability. The Department Annual report to Parliament has reported achievements under the five key areas of the Disability Services Plan detailed below:
(a) Existing services are adapted to ensure they meet the needs of people with disabilities.
(b) Access to buildings and facilities is improved.
(c) Information about services is provided in formats, which meet the communications requirements of people with disabilities.
(d) Advice and services are delivered by staff that are aware of and understand the needs of people with disabilities.
(e) Opportunities are provided for people with disabilities to participate in public consultations, grievance mechanisms and decision-making processes.
In terms of the Kimberley and Gascoyne Development Commissions, please be advised as follows:
1. The matter of providing specific assistance to adults who are unable to read or write does not fall withineither Development Commission's legislated responsibilities described in the
Regional Development Commissions Act 1993
. However, consistent with the Commissions' commitment to increasing regional capacity and in accordance with their Equal Opportunity Plan, appropriate referral and/or assistance would be provided to clients falling within this category.

4. The Commission's Senior Officers are responsible for the implementation of the Commissions' Equal Opportunity Plan.
In terms of the Pilbara Development Commissions, please be advised as follows:

The Pilbara Development Commission has a Disability Access and Inclusion Plan that has been approved by the Disability Services Commission. This plan ensures that people with disabilities, their families and carers are able to fully access the range of Commission services and facilities (both in-house and contracted), providing them with the same opportunities, rights and responsibilities enjoyed by all other people in the community. It also ensures that people with disabilities are given the opportunity to participate in shaping the development of their community through the consultative process with local business and industry and the three levels of Government. It enables the Commission to consult with people with disabilities, their families and carers and where required, disability organisations to ensure that barriers to access and inclusion are addressed appropriately as well as ensuring that its agents and contractors work towards the desired access and inclusion outcomes of the Commission's Plan.
