I refer to an appeal to the then Minister for Primary Industry and Fisheries, Hon Monty House, against a soil conservation notice relating to drainage works in Narembeen-Avon location Nos 18159, 18160, 18161, 18162, 27107 and 27106 issued on 14 February 1997, which resulted in a variation of the soil conservation notice subject to conditions. (1) Has the Commissioner of Soil and Land Conservation been notified whether each downstream land-holder agreed to accept the water drained onto his or her land as a result of the extension of the existing drain? (2) Has a maintenance agreement been developed among the land-holders who share access to the catchment drain? (3) Was an agreement made between the Commissioner of Soil and Land Conservation and the proponent to reduce the risk of soil erosion by modifying the shape of the spore banks along the existing drains and creek line, and has the work been carried out? (4) Has a catchment management plan for the Narembeen creek catchment ever been undertaken, and, if so, when? (5) What is the current status of the soil conservation notice, given that not all the conditions have been met? Hon KIM CHANCE

I thank the member for limited notice of this question. The issues raised by the honourable member have some history. Indeed, they go back to the actions that were undertaken five years ago, and, as such, significant research into that history would be required to provide the member with answers. I ask the member to place her questions on notice to enable that research to be carried out.
