(1) Now that all taxi drivers come under the one Act, will the fine for the non-payment of fares be the same for fare evaders in regional areas as it is in the metropolitan area, and if not, why not? (2) Will regional taxi drivers have the ability to get the cost of the fare back from fare evaders, and if not why not? (3) When will regional taxis have cameras installed?

(1) The offence for fare evasion is covered under the Taxi Act 1994 and Transport Co ordination Act 1966.
(2) It is the Government's intention that the relevant regulations pertaining to offences under the Taxi Act 1994 and Transport Co-ordination Act 1966 will be reviewed and rationalised.
(3) The Government is looking at the mandatory installation of taxi camera surveillance units in regional areas on a region by region basis commencing with the Peel region.
