126. Mr McGOWAN to the Premier:
(1) From which Government departments, agencies, boards and committees, other than the Heritage Council, Water and Rivers Commission and Swan River Trust, was approval for Country Lodging Australias proposed hotel at Barrack Square sought?
(2) For each of the departments, agencies, boards and committees -
(a) on what date were the original plans submitted;
(b) were these original plans approved;
(c) on what date were the revised plans received;
(d) on what date did the department, agency, board or committee approve the revised plans; and
(e) if applicable, which members of the department, agency, board or committee-
(i) voted for the proposal;
(ii) voted against the proposal;
(iii) abstained from voting; and
(iv) were not present for the vote?
(3) Did any of these departments, agencies, boards or committees provide advice on the proposal?
(4) If yes, will the Premier table that advice, and if not, why not?

I am advised that:
Minister for Resources Development; Energy; Education:
Western Power is not involved with providing approvals for developments such as the proposed hotel at Barrack Square. Western Power did however provide comment on the proposed development.
Minister for Transport:
Main Roads Western Australia
(1) - (2) Main Roads is not a development approval authority. The proposed hotel development at Barrack Square was referred to Main Roads by the Swan River Trust for comment on 24 June 1999.
(3) Main Roads advised that it had "no comment or recommendations" on the proposal.
(4) Not applicable.
Minister for the Environment; Labour Relations:
Department of Environmental Protection:
(1,3 & 4)
Approval from the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is not required for the development other than potentially for regulation of construction noise. I refer the Member to question 127 addressed to the Minister for the Environment.
