I refer to the transportable building situated at the Darkan Primary School and previously used by the community’s school kindergarten, playgroup and day-care service and I ask -
(1) Can the Minister explain why the transportable is still at the site, despite the community being told last October that they would lose the building because it was required for the start of the school year?
(2) Since the building is still in Darkan five weeks into the school year, why did the Minister refuse to negotiate to sell the building to the Darkan community?
(3) Did the Education Department mislead the community by claiming the building was to be moved to a special needs school in Victoria Park, when it is actually going to a school in Perth’s affluent western suburbs?
(4) Is the Minister aware that the Education Department’s decision to move the building has disadvantaged the entire community, which has lost their day-care service to Williams, more than 40km away?
