Corrective Services—Prisons
304. Mr Basil Zempilas to
the Minister for Corrective Services:
I refer to the
Inspector of Custodial Services issuing a show cause notice for three prisons
today and his comments that what began as a failure at Hakea Prison in 2024 and
2025 has escalated into a system-wide breakdown.
Has the minister
been unable to secure the funding and support in cabinet for an expanded prison
estate and reform, or is the minister simply incapable of fixing this systemic
crisis?
