I refer to the funding of a non-government agency by the Department of Justice to provide a victim support worker to the Joondalup Family Violence Court. (1) Why has the minister removed this position from the non-government sector? The Minister for Justice and Legal Affairs provides the following response - (1) The Government has endorsed the recommendations of the evaluation of the Joondalup Family Violence Court, which include locating the victim support position within the victim support service of the court services division of the Department of Justice. The evaluation report states that the work undertaken by this worker is within the parameters of the victim support service and the position will be able to access professional supervision, practice direction and staff support services in the VSS. (2) A family violence coordinating committee is being established by the Government. Its membership will include senior executives from relevant government departments, representatives from the peak non-government agencies as well as an indigenous person and a person from the Ethnic Communities Council of Western Australia.
